MuntInternet is a specialist in combining several servers to something we call a web-cluster. These machines share their resources and act like one machine with combined power to people visiting your sites and maintaining your sites. Clustering the servers gives them more power, since the servers are specially chosen for their task, and more reliability since you replace the single point of failure.

When you make known that you are interested in such a setup, we will advise you in what is best for your sites and services. Depending on what you need exactly we use separate file services, sql services, mail services and web services. To spread the load on the web services we use a special switch; a load balancer. Depending on your wishes we deploy one or two (in failover).

The file services are very important in setups like we use. When the file services is interrupted, the cluster will stop functioning. This service needs special attention. Depending on your wishes we use one or two redundant fileservers, with two or more power supplies(N+1). We attach redundant arrays to the fileservers, with double cable sets and hot spare disks. Depending on the load and speeds you need we use scsi, Iscsi or SAN. Since backups are very valuable we integrate them in the setup from start. Depending on your needs we use Tape-rotators or we supply you with our own backup services.

The amount of SQL servers is based on the type of service you offer and the scripts you use. It is possible to load balance the SQL services or to build a failover (active/passive) setup. Several types of SQL services are possible, MySQL, MSSQL and PostgreSQL are the most popular types.

What type of web servers and how many is an important decision, but not as important as it seems. Our setups are very modular and scalable. If you attract more visitors, change software or want to add streaming services to your setup; we just add some machines and you are ready to go.

We have build many of these setups and our clients are very pleased with them; they notice an increase in sales and the visitors are contented. Most important is the decrease of Total Cost of Ownership; they noticed a decrease in server-administration costs and down-time.
